I have to admit Paul that pedestrianisation was not a good idea. It really needs at least buses and or taxis to be able to go through a street so that there is always some life around - which is especially relevant after dark. Just the other week a friend's daughter had her purse snatched in broad daylight in Hounslow by some yob on a bike, which of course should not be ridden through there in the first place. When reporting it at the Police Station she was told this is a fairly frequent occurrence.
