Khan has presided over a top heavy costly TfL which had excessive costs long before the Coronavirus. TfLs remit and policies reach far beyond the core of what it is supposed to do. It's been a mess with so much not being overseen and damage to infrastructure bt selling off vital sites for his housing policies is devastating for Transport Infrastructure and future proofing and whacking up overheads from dead mileage to staffing costs. Far too many consultants all paid to say what the policymakers want them to say. Too much political and managerial interference which has added £millions to the Elizabeth Line. Too many 'politicised' experts engaged to cause time wastage and headaches for engineers. Massive waste on Hybrid buses being imposed on Contracts that are now deemed more polluting than Euro 5 & 6 diesels. A ULEZ extension based on out of date data, falling way short of the revenue expected ( which has exposed it as a purely revenue based scheme) and leaving an infra structure carbon footprint that will take 11 years to recover. Would have been far cheaper to have run a proper and fair scrappage scheme for vehicles owned by GLA residents. Massive amounts of money squandered and too much with unsatisfactory results. Yet we still have filthy trains, too many messed up bus services , poorest ever bus worker conditions, too much crime and poorly executed works. And still one of the world's most expensive urban transport systems. ( That's as bad across the whole country) Then there's Shapps. Words fail me as to how he ever got to where he is. Surely they can do better than him? Both need to have their heads banged together and get rid of their advisors. |
