What an inept meeting - who was that dreadful chairperson? I have alluded in this forum in the past to Orwellain Newspeak - do the council think that banning words that make them look bad will remove individual's rights to hold them to account? Are they aware this is behaviour carried out by the worst totalitarian regimes of the 20th century? An except from the Wikipedia page on Newspeak - "Newspeak is a controlled language of simplified grammar and restricted vocabulary designed to limit the individual's ability to think and articulate "subversive" concepts such as personal identity, self-expression and free will. Such concepts are criminalized as thoughtcrime since they contradict the prevailing Ingsoc orthodoxy." |
