You're right, it's an issue with the barrier, and it should have been better communicated (including to me!) but I was told some time ago that they are replacing the troublesome barriers with new ones.
I just visited the site and contractors (quite a few of them) are on site. They look to have already removed the old barriers and are in the process of fitting new ones.
I'm hoping this suspension of service will be the last for a very long time.
