I have to say, I read this thread a couple of days ago and found it rather surreal.

It reminded me of the Peepshow episode where some yob nicks Mark's phone and Mark ends up phoning the thief, agreeing to meet at a chicken shop and hands over something like £60 and the guy promises to go and get his phone...never to return.

I'm clearly a total cynic, but if someone nicks my wallet and keys the last time I'm going to do is engage in dialogue with the lowlife in the hope that they might by some miracle suddenly feel remorse.

The second I was given a name and contact details of who might have taken the wallet and keys (and the cynic in me would expect those details to be false, just someone winding up both yourself and their mate) I'd be contacting the police.

But as others have said I hope the police did take this up and you get the wallet and keys back.
