Have had to work at a location in Twickenham last few weeks so have used both the car and 267 bus. The Journey times have been horrendous being both late for meetings and coming home. There have been road works at Isleworth which are so poorly co-ordinated that the delays have been made far worse than need be. But it does show just how important the route through Isleworth is to the A316 in one direction and the A4 and points North in the other. I don't really have a view on closing Church street, but it clearly did provide a small amount of local traffic relief to the main route. But it is not acceptable to have to take up to an hour plus to travel a route that normally takes 20 mins. Surely it would be far more sensible to enable better traffic flow on the main route in place and working first before closing of relief routes? The cost in increased pollution, wasted working time, costs in delays to so many as well as seriously damaging the reliability of public transport is shambolic and too high a price to pay in too many perspectives. LBH and TfL need to have their heads banged together and sort out this before any more population increasing developments go ahead or the future of this already dented local commerce and all that goes with it will be catastrophic. |
