Very interesting piece on Hounslow's bin and recycling a few weeks back on BBC London.  I heard it on iplayer just last week, after a friend mentioned it.

It referred to the Council more or less "Annexing" the front gardens of Terraced Houses to enable their bins and boxes to be stored at no cost, whilst withdrawing 7 day a week access to the only council waste facility.

It was also suggested that as the council property in the form of Boxes and bins take up more than 50% of residents front gardens, a rebate ought to be issued to those affected or rent be charged for the occupancy of space.

It was also mentioned ( and it has been raised here more than once) about the ignoring of Fire safety advice and the absence of advice guidelines on the LFB website.

The guidelines refers to no wheelie bin or Open waste boxes be places no less than 2.5m away from any door, wind or vent.  Not possible in any property in BRS for example.

In the light of Grenfell, one wonders why both the LFB and London Councils have knowingly ignored the national advice.
