I think this Hounslow Chronicle report confirms what many of us suspected

I wonder what our old friend from this forum cllr David Hughes thinks of his wife being branded a racist by his own comrades?

!A LABOUR councillor has been punished for sending an email which helped expose a disgraced party colleague, the Chronicle can reveal.

Elizabeth Hughes, who has represented Heston West since 2006, was suspended by the Hounslow Labour Group earlier this month.

A wall of silence had surrounded the reason for the sanction, but a leaked document obtained by the Chronicle reveals it was an email she sent complaining about fellow Labour councillor Mohinder Gill.

That email ultimately led to Mr Gill being found by an appeals tribunal in May to have abused his powers in voting not to take enforcement action against the home of a former Labour candidate.

Leaked minutes of the Labour group meeting at which Mrs Hughes' suspension was agreed, on July 5, give the reason as 'uncomradely behaviour and racist language'.

The minutes show this refers to a private email from Mrs Hughes to the group's then chief whip Alan Barber in September 2010 complaining about Mr Gill's behaviour at a planning meeting the previous night.

As the Chronicle revealed in May, she wrote: "It's all back to the Asian boys' club. I don't want the Labour Party dragged down by them."

Her complaint was investigated by the council's standards committee, which found last summer Mr Gill had breached the members' code of conduct on five counts.

An appeals tribunal subsequently ruled in May this year that Mr Gill had not known the property at the centre of the row was the home of former Labour candidate Harleen Atwal.

However, Judge David Laverick upheld three of the breaches, finding the councillor had used his position to 'improperly secure an advantage for another person'.

Mr Gill was stripped of his planning powers and is due to stand down at the next elections, but the party has never taken any internal action against him or apologised for his behaviour.

It was a complaint by Mr Gill that prompted the motion to suspend Mrs Hughes, which was formally proposed by Councillor Balvir Sond and seconded by deputy council leader Colin Ellar.

Mrs Hughes warned at the meeting that suspending her would make Labour councillors 'too frightened' to complain about a fellow member in future.

She has appealed against her suspension to Labour's London regional group, which is due to consider her appeal this week."
