It's little lesson young Dawn - not any act of cleverness on my part. In fact it took very little effort. But please do not go about claiming things to be facts until you really do know them to be facts. You were guilty of lazily making unchecked statements - and worse, making false claims based on them. You were also somewhat ingracious in apology. But at least you have corrected and clarified. This is important as it shows that RBS, majority held by UK Financial Investments, was only one player in the overall bridging loan contribution. If the government had stepped in to stop this contribution from RBS the load would still have gone ahead. You implied (actually you stated) that in failing to stop the RBS contribution that the government was lax in its attempts to stop the take over of Cadbury. This is not true, is it? Rather the government recognised that such an intervention would have prevented the loan or the take-over. It's like a little bit of clarity has decended upon this thread. Nice. |
