Hi Jim,
Re pic with Dairyman, looking at the car on the left, this looks very much like a Morris Minor or similar with the bonnet up. MM were not produced until the very late 40's
My guess the pic is more like 1950's, also there were more cars on the streets in the 1950's. I started as an apprentice Motor Mechanic in 1950.
