It is a super improvement but then again the old playground was half decent in when it was new, nor was it all that old, but lack of maintenance and the appalling vandalism it endured makes it a wonder it even lasted as long as it did.

I noted that even yesterday, the usual low lifes were skulking around at night with the resultant graffiti evident this morning as well as attempts at tampering with things.

These amenities cost all of us to be provided and it is simply not acceptable for those who maltreat and impose their slovenly ways on everyone else.

Mums who have an aversion to closing the gate, smoking and littering and allowing their dogs to roam around the playground and have mouths like sewers need to be trained, sometimes their dogs are better behaved!

It does need to be policed and the councils roving cameras positioned for a while might provide the evidence of the usual suspects.

But if we do have a 'big society' then we all have a responsibility to see the place is kept as though it was our own.

All we should need to do is report the goings on. What we do need and should expect without fail, is that it gets acted upon and dealt with swiftly.
Whatever time of day it may be.
