Dawn All organisations have to begin somewhere and ICG Watch, like any other group, needs to elect officers and a committee. We don't have a website either, at present, which is why we spent a little time discussing the matter of setting one up. Every organisation that I'm aware of will have gone through a similar process at some stage in its existence. Like them, we need to begin at the beginning. I am certainly not suggesting that you are an ignoramous, please point me to where I have said this and I will apologise. What I did say is that you were clearly expecting the meeting to take a different format to that which it did in fact take. No shame in this on anyone's part, I'm simply saying that we followed the agenda of the meeting. Surely you must recognise that a group of people from acorss the borough who are already quite busy would not give up their time to attend, indeed to organise meetings just so that they could avoid criticising the local authority, when it is the local authority that is the very object of their attention? That just doesn't make any sense. What I am saying is that there are ways and means of going about these things. It is also incorrect to say that LBH Watch only focuses on planning. It has made the conscious decision to begin by focusing mostly on planning, because that is where most of the problems seem to lie. But if you'd hung around until the end of the meeting you would have heard us discuss an issue raised by a resident on the subject of concessionary bus passes. LBH Watch will take up any issue on behalf of residents, including Laing, but most agendas have an order of business and meetings which become a free-for-all in my experience usually end up getting nothing worthwhile done. My reference to political persuasion was in response to comments made in your previous posting, not to anything that was said at the meeting. I agree with your last paragraph entirely. |
