Hazel, This is precisely what makes me angry, DECISIONS are made for us when we have no idea what has been decided, why?also what the penalties would be if we should negate the contract.Councillors who have been elected should have a training period because it is obvious that they really do not completely understand the implications of there decisions. Why give Carte Blanche to a company that you certainly can have had no experience with, surely a yearly contract and a look at the financial report for that particular fiscal year would give a very good overview of not only present expenditure, where if it had gone over budget investigate and ensure that the cost was bone-fide, also that forthcoming expenditure should be broght into budget forecasts. Just how much will it cost us and who the hell were the idiots to have put us into this situation. The report that I am reading, gives one the impression that the actual councillor's have not read the original contract but because it has been put in front of them by Mr.Jordan-Director of Enviroment then it must be OK, this is not the attitude to take, YOU!!! as elected councillors have a duty to question previous decisions appertaining to the here and now, most importantly future expenditure. If JLIS are already 380k over the estimate of refurbishments on Cranford,Bedfont and Brentford Libraries without lifting a finger, what will the cost be evetually to us all. It would pay us to get a super duper legal eagle to have a look at this contract and save us some money hopefully. The decisions made by Coumcillor's on Friday 6th August 2010 should be rescinded and looked at in depth. |
