I pop into our Library at least twice a month, being an avid reader I also buy lot's of book's which only I read, noticing that the shelves at Brentford were grossly understocked I asked the Librarian if they would like 50 New Book's all costing 6.99 each to which the reply was that they were no longer permitted to accept Book Donations I replied that the shelves were becoming lesser on each visit, poor love was greatly embarrassed which got me thinking, I have noticed an awful lot of work going on at Isleworth Library does this mean that Labour Council are thinking of closing our library if so they need to remember that our library was donated by Mr Carnegie early 20th centruy to the PEOPLE of Brentford not to anyone Council and that we the residents of Brentford would not take kindly to them closing something to which they have no right to consider. We are always hearing from Hounslow Council that there is a deficit in monies well then by accepting donations of new books would help save a great deal of money. I have already noticed a 70p fee for the ordering of a book for an adult also 40p for a child's book to be ordered. |
