"So what? David & Robin were discussing the party's national leaders and their handling of the expenses crisis." Precisely Sharon. Yet Robin felt driven to bring up Liam Fox's expenses. The point being made was that the Tories and Lib Dems dealt swiftly with their rogues but Labour didn't. Gordon showed incredible lack of leadership on this issue except to say that he was very, very angry and people like the Keens showed little but contempt for Gordon's 'anger' by ignoring his 'request' to pay the money back. Tony Blair's backing and support of Jaqui Smith during her campaign emphasises this point. Why on earth did Gordon 'allow' Blair to be seen supporting Ms Smith and if he didn't, it demonstrates either Blair's contempt for Gordon's leadership, or that Gordon didn't show any leadership on this issue. Gordon could and should have put pressure to stop people like the Keens, Blears, Smith, MacNally et el from standing again. Cameron, on the other hand, came out strongly and swiftly and ejected many from the party immediately. |
