Hold on a minute, I am not championing anyone at all and who said you or anyone else should give up your car? Not me, none of my business how many cars anyone has and its none of yours either. The fact remains if residents of Hamilton Road, for whatever reason be it work or otherwise have between them say 40 cars and there is only room for 30 of them to be parked, there are always going to be dissappointed residents. Will it mean there are any less cars to park? No - I don't think so. Why not make the whole of Brentford a CPZ. Make everyone buy half a dozen permits if necessary. Will it mean suddenly the streets are empty? No - it will just mean lots of people paying lots of money to do pretty much what they do now for free. There will not be any more parking spaces there will be less and the place will be swarming with traffic wardens or whatever they're called these days, just dying to slap big fat fines on people. Terrific idea, crack on, and as far as I can see that would be just to prevent the occasional commuter parking for free on a public highway, which is what I personally think we should all be able to do anyway. |
