If we allow the council to go ahead with this - and the council bureaucrats will undoubtedly do their best to rig any "consultation" to ensure they get what they want, ie. more revenue and more jobs for their boys - we will get what we're given, and it will be almost impossible to get them to scale it back later. And yes, the council jobsworths rely on folks thinking "Oh no, the CPZ next door has pushed extra parking onto my street, we'd better ask for a CPZ too." Hey, more money, more parking fines, more jobs for the boys... As Bernadette says, no-one *requires* a car to go shopping or to take the kids to school. Indeed, if more parents walked or cycled with their kids, we'd have less traffic on the roads and maybe even fitter children! By the by, one reason we have extra vehicles around might be all the water main replacement works - everyone who lives and normally parks on Ealing Road will currently be parking elsewhere, for instance, and that'll be pushing others further afield too. |
