Whilst out for a walk last night (wed) I counted 23 vans 7 of which were long wheelbase, and 5 of which I regularly see around here. Can't explain where the rest come from. Obviously, this is a mixed area and there are plenty of self employed and those who get a company van. That is going to be normal. But the long wheelbase vehicles are not the usual van of the small business and do use up too much space at the expense of others. Ealing has a weight and length restriction in all non classified residential streets ( I think that means ordinary streets with no number ie B3208 etc.) It's been in force since pre- Ken GLC days and understand it was also deployed in Hounslow. But of course, vans and in particular vans of residents have to have somewhere to park overnight safely. CPZs included. |
