There is an interesting case to highlight all these problems with Hospital car parking on page 7 of this months 'Which'. The unfortunate gentleman concerned had racked up over £100 in charges, visiting his Father in Swindon. This involved a 200mile round trip from Dorset. He only recieved a concessionary permit the day before his Father died. He was lucky, the day my Father passed on, I wasted half an hour looking for a space, with the result that he had gone before I reached him. This was at Barnet General Hospital. Since then things have improved at Barnet. With the new Hospital having been built, a fixed charge of £3.00 is imposed which lasts 24hours. You can also return within that period if you keep your ticket without further charge, very useful if like me you have to attend for eye pressure tests over one day. |
