Jessamy - according to the BBC website "...a hip replacment operation costs on average £4,660 on the NHS...". In actual fact I have already paid this amount many times over & will continue to pay it many times over again before I eventually retire. "I think doctors are right to deny treatment to the heavy smoker/drinker and the obese." If you really believe certain sectors of society should be discriminated against when ill, then the same should apply to those who intentionally starve themselves & are underweight for vanity's sake. I'm sure we can find a reason to discriminate against everybody & deny treatment if we try. Anyway, none of this alters the fact that the sick & their family are being scandalously robbed under particulary appalling circumstances. |
