| Nick Stern (no E) grew up in Somerset Road in Brentford.His late parents were active members of the Labour Party. Marion, amongst other community voluntary work was a magistrate. Bert may, at one time have been a Labour councillor. When they bought their house in Somerset Road, the land behind it came with the house - the service road with council garages about to be developed. This additional land they either gave or sold to the council for a song as they didn't need it. At one time I believe Nick worked for the UN and his brother for the World Bank. Their sister Naomi lived in Brentford for some years after their parents' death. Nick Stern is best known as the economist specialising in climate change. He was a prof at LSE. |
