These are almost identical to the 'Adventure Playgrounds of the early 1970s two of which were fab . One in Lammas Park in Ealing and a massive one in Ravenscourt Park, Hammersmith. All run by local community workers 9 usually students in the summer. They were crude and basic, Bits of wood and 6 inch nails with zip wires rope nets and simply stuff to do what you liked. But great fun, but would never pass any sort of H&S culture now. But above all, completely free, year in year out. This expensive and rather sterile version is a pure abomination at the cost. At the very least every child or adult living in Ealing or Hounslow should have free access or a nominal charge of no more than £1. Or not have it at all. It will be yet another divisive display of the Haves v The Have Nots. What does that say to all the kids locally cooped up in tower blocks/ And Hounslow have one of the biggest child poverty situations in London Shame on every person involved with such a proposal. |
