Annoying though it is for those of us who do care what a neighbourhood looks like, there is very little you can do. For those who are not able to maintain their homes because of age or disability and who are council tenants there might be help available. The housing department can talk to tenants who let things go and ask them to tidy things up, whether they do or not is another matter. Where owner occupiers are concerned you cannot make anyone accept help if they don't want it, and let's be honest some just don't give a toss, neither do they care how much their dilatory habits affect close neighbours. |
