Church Street is a small parochial issue and the people most affected, stuck on buses and cars are not local voters or residents. It is these people, many of whom have no idea that the delays are down to Church Street being closed off who need to be lobbied and to complain to TfL and LBH. Far worse are the plethora of poor developments planned for the district, the seismic changes that will bring locally, destabilisation of the entire community, overdensification without adequate infrastructure ( Church street is part of that) and the utter incompetence of the authority to deal with it. Choosing pontification of ego rather than apply pragmatism to properly solve problems. The poor performers and those responsible need to be targeted at the next local elections . In the meantime Local would be MPs need to be clear about where they stand on several local issues as there has been too much procrastination and avoidance on several issues, especially where they come into conflict with Labour policy or the dictate of council executives. So using Brexit and the NHS and national issues is not good enough. Local issues especially with a tainted council need also to be addressed. Other MPs of the same party do it, when necessary. Not so much here and they may pay the price. Our current MP has a lot going for her but she really must smell the coffee, and that might just bolster some of our local Councillors to man up to the bully culture within. |
