Don't get me wrong - some councillors are good, but they have been up against it with the brutal cuts which do make it difficult getting things done. Interesting thing on the T.V. yesterday that only 3 police forces had figures on stopping people for smoking while they had children in the car, and all they got was a caution. Same with councils, government can make laws and rules etc. 'til the cows come home - if you haven't got the staff to enforce or carry them out - then nothing actually happens, then we all get frustrated. I think our council should find some backbone and use all the national and London wide associations for local government to fight back - Hounslow is not the only authority to be in this state, although perhaps some of the members leave something to be desired. I just wish they'd stop rolling over and meekly giving in - they are a Labour council they should start acting like one.
