Seemed to be some confusion as to whether the council/ Carillion meant this to be an 'open' meeting, but backed off and proceeded. Much talk of 'masterplans'? And six month consultation - which seems a tad O.T.T. for as someone pointed out before you know where you are a year will have gone. Lots of talk about the plans for the play area which should re-open this weekend. Regarding the Rugby World Cup event in the park - according to councillors the delays in finalising things was down to 'branding' with the RFU. Considering that the World Cup has been planned for years that seems a pretty poor excuse, not sure Hounslow got their act together in a timely manner, whereas Richmond were up and running. Again it was pointed out that here we are in July, August is a pretty 'dead' month and the event in the park is planned for September 13th, so time is of the essence. Anyway it was agreed that the group should meet on a monthly basis, but again the point was made that any 'Friends' group should not be contractor/council led. From reports that have gone to the area forum there does seem to have been a lot of plans and information that have disappeared never to be heard of again, one from last October pretty much contradicted what was said last night. Everyone present did express their interest in being involved and getting information on the park usage out to people especially using the parks own noticeboards which have hitherto been ignored. Carillion were also told their website needs updating quickly and that they should brush up on their communication which leaves a lot to be desired. So it's watch this space. |
