7th Battalion Rifle Brigade, date of death 15th September 1916. What I think is odd is that he and my Nan already had 5 children and he was 34 years old. We have no idea if he volunteered or was conscripted and apart from his medal card nothing else except the telegram with news of his death. I suspect his record was part of the 'burnt records' lost in WW2.
